It started with an idea
Shanti Nation was officially founded as a family-run business in Germany in 2016 with only one product to sell: our extra large Shanti Mat. But in fact, the idea of Shanti Nation started in 2012 when we were upset with our standard-sized yoga mat. Too little space to feel really free led us to think about fulfilling our own notion of a yoga mat.
Lengthy enquiries with a whole train of suppliers were disheartening. Rock bottom was hit when a supplier tried to fool us with faked eco test certificates. We were at the brink of giving up. A yoga mat that is a joy to use, unique in its simplicity and free of toxins. Is that really too much to ask for?
Fortunately, friends and fellow yoga enthusiasts encouraged us to keep going forward. To keep holding on to our idea. It took four years to transform our idea to a first prototype. We think it was worth the journey. What is your take on it?
